Does the President Seek to Bypass the People in Creating Law?
The President now believes he has the power to initiate his "change" as it applies to legislation passed in 1996 concerning same-sex marriage in the United States. The Defense of Marriage Act, overwhelmingly passed on 09/21/96 officially defines the state of marriage as called for by a majority of the people of this nation through action of their representative actors in Congress.
DOMA has two primary effects:
1. No state needs to treat a relationship between persons of the same sex as a marriage, even if the
relationship is considered a marriage in another state.
2. The federal government defines marriage as a legal union exclusively between one man and one
woman.
As defined, the word "marriage" simply means a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife; and, the word "spouse" refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife. DOMA clarifies the autonomy of each state in that they alone have the right to regulate marriage within their borders and cannot be forced to accept any "same-sex marriage" status from another state. Thirty states have constitutional amendments protecting traditional marriage while thirty-seven states have their own DOMAs. Texas does not recognize same-sex marriage under any circumstances, not even in a civil union applied to cohabitating persons.
During a recent meeting with gay activists in the Whitehouse, he voiced his condemnation of DOMA and assured those attending (the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered repulsive human organisms of society), the LGBT, his continued support of their "right" to exist. He further condemned the discrimination faced by all gay and lesbian citizens, promising strong and measurable actions for hate crimes and non-discrimination legislation, utilizing, of course, his sycophantic followers in Congress.
As usual, Obama disregards the will of the people and, moreover, the will of God as concerns the LGBT community. The following is what God’s Word has to say about these people and what actual discrimination means:
His Word speaks many times of differentiating between those who practice sexually immoral acts and those who do not. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian brothers (I Cor 5:11) to disassociate (to practice discrimination?) themselves with anyone who is sexually immoral to such an extent that they should not even eat with them. Later in his letter (6:9), he states that no one should be deceived in that the wicked are "discriminated" against because neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders will inherit the Kingdom of God.
Homosexuality is in God's eyes an abomination - a disgusting, vile and detestable practice. His "Book of Law" states in the Old Testament (Lev 18:22) that a man must not lie with a man as one lies with a woman for it is detestable. This verse directly corresponds with the following verse forbidding bestiality. He even announces His penalty for such an act in verse 20:13. It is severe - both participants shall be put to death which, in the Bible, means spiritual separation for all eternity. This penalty is confirmed in Jesus' revelation to the Apostle John centuries later in Revelation 21:8. The reward for homosexual practice is "the fiery lake of burning sulfur."
If, then, the Creator's will is such that those who follow His teachings and do not participate in such abominable acts must sever their associations with those who do, how can we, as a nation vested with His power and blessing from its very beginnings, permit such unconscionable behavior and condone homosexual acts? As long as the gay community continues to behave in their disgusting practices, they will be discriminated against and if and when they choose to change these practices, that discrimination will cease, by both mankind and God Himself and then will they be embraced by a moral society.
Those who approve of DOMA have been seen as racist in that their approval denies endorsement of a confederacy of like-minded people with constitutional rights of their own. For the Christian, this has little meaning in that the actions of such an unbalanced group transcend the necessary approval of man or God. Their rights are actually only a privilege given by their supporters who have enacted legislation in their favor. While they must be allowed to follow their own personal desires, it is not necessary to force their existence and encroach upon the true rights of others not of their confederacy.
For Obama to take it upon himself to initiate a change in the law in an attempt to repeal the DOMA on his own far exceeds the powers of his office as Chief Executive. He is attempting to bypass the people in his decision-making as well as bypassing the power of the Legislative Branch of the government he took an oath to support. Legislation begins with the people and not the President. Such activity on his part violates the Constitution of the U.S. and sends a message to the citizens of this nation he has little regard for their wishes and opinions. He has placed himself in a precarious position usually associated with a dictatorship…no surprise to many of us, by the way.
